What Angle Can Batwing Compact Awning Extension be Used In

It would appear the extension attaches straight down from compact batwing awning versus the taper extension for standard batwing angles out more from awning? Is this just the illusion of the diagram or how it really is?

The correct awning extension for the Rhino Rack Batwing Compact part # RR33300 is the part # RR32111 which can be angled in a few ways. I attached a few pictures that shows some of the options of this extension. You can have it tapered down or totally horizontal/vertical as needed.
