The best way to remove a pal nut would be to either pry it off with a screwdriver or use a pair of pliers to wrestle it off the shaft. Pal nuts are considered a one-time use item, so you do not need to be gentle removing them.
If you need a replacement, we offer pal nuts for a 5/8 inch diameter roller shaft as part # CE10801.
