Question:
Dear Sirs I purchased a Master Lock kit that included a couple lock. It turns out that it can be a pain trying to lock the lock, and remove the key item #2847DAT. it can take 5 minutes to line up the lock with the grooves, and to get the key out. With the challenges with the Master Coupler Lock, I am considering a different coupler lock. The leading candidates are the etrailer item e98890 or e98889. I noticed that these two items look the same however there is a noticeable difference in price ~$. What makes item e98890 more costly? Both have the chromium warning, indicating that they both have chrome plating. Another option is the Bulldog BD580403. My couple is for a 2 5/16 hitch, and I am not sure if this Bulldog trigger latch style will work on my hitch. Best Regards

The Stainless Steel Trailer Coupler Lock part # e98890 is made of stainless steel, not chrome plated which is why it is more expensive than the Trailer Coupler Lock part # e98889 which is chrome plated steel. The stainless steel option is better as you don't run the risk of the chrome plating chipping and exposing unprotected steel.
In regards to the Bulldog Lifelong Trailer Coupler Lock part # BD580403, this will work with pretty much any trigger style latch with a 1/4" diameter pin hole and no more than 3/4" wide.
