How To Attach a Roof Top Tent To a Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform Rack

Question:

will this support and enable a roof top tent? if so, which manufacturer of the tents, as i know there are several.

I do have an option for you but most roof top tents are designed to attach to standard crossbars, not a platform tray. I spoke with Rhino-Rack and although they were not able to recommend any specific manufacturer, they were able to say that most customers who use a roof top tent with the platform tray do so by drilling directly into the tray as there is not an attachment for this. Therefore, in order to attach a roof top tent like the Yakima SkyRise HD Tent part # Y07436 on the Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform Rack with Backbone Mounting System part # JB0892 you would need to drill directly into the tray.

In regards to support, you will not have any issues at all with the above tray and mounting system. The ladder for the roof top tent supports a lot of the weight.
