Can Pioneer Platform Rack with Backbone Mounting System Support a Roof Top Tent Plus People

Question:

Good morning to all. I wanted to ask for your advice, I have a JL and I want to put a Smittybilt 2883 Overlander XL Tent, but reading the references of Rhino Rack support only 264 lbs and I wonder will it be that support the TENT, to my 240lbs more to my wife?

The Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform Rack with Backbone Mounting System # JB0892 for your 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler Unlimited does have a weight capacity of 264 lbs but that is the dynamic weight capacity. Dynamic weight capacity is the max amount of weight while the vehicle is moving. Since you'll be stationary while using the Smittybilt 2883 Overlander XL Tent you will need to remain under the static weight capacity which is actually 850 lbs so you'll be good to go on that end. I reached out to my contact at Rhino-Rack who confirmed this.

Please note that I'm not quite sure how that tent installs so you'll need to make sure it is compatible with the Pioneer Platform Rack.
