Troubleshooting Slide Out Crunching
Updated 07/30/2019 | Published 07/28/2019 >
Question:
My 2015 Phaeton Tiffin has gear pack shank issues. When my slide retracts, there is a crunching sound on both sides. Usually the rear side and then the front side. So far this has happened 4 times and every time the shanks on the gear pack are broken. Any thoughts?

Helpful Expert Reply:
A slide out should - obviously - not be crunching and there are a myriad of potential issues that simply replacing the gear pack with one like # LC123356 would not be prudent. What it could be is that some how the slide out has become misaligned or there is some other type of internal issue that a simple replacement part would be unable to remedy. I very strongly recommend taking your 2015 Phaeton Tiffin to get serviced by an RV professional to diagnose the issue.
