Does The Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Lock PAL8600 Lock a Swing Open Tailgate on 2017 Honda Ridgeline

Question:
Looking at your product .. looks good .. and easy to install. it seem to lock the tailgate from opening DOWN ... and with cover .. looks very secure and theft proof. when locked however .. one can still open the tailgate with the SWING Opening .. technically the tailgate is not locked correct ?
