Yes, the Custom Wiring Adapter for Hayes Brake Controllers part # HA81783-HBC is required to install the Hayes Blackbird Trailer Brake Controller part HA81726 on your 1996 Ford F-250. The plug you will need to access for the above adapter will be located under your dash, near the emergency brake pedal.
