Can a Magnet be Used to Mount the Prodigy P3 Controller to Keep From Drilling Into Vehicle Dash

Question:

I’d like to be able to remove the controller from the dash and would like to mount it during use with a magnet attached to the controller bracket and one behind the dash so I do not deface my dash. My question is if the magnet will mess with the inertia sensor in the controller. In the picture, #1 magnet would be behind the dash and #2 magnet would be on the metal bracket on top of controller

You actually can place a magnet on the underside of your dash to mount the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. I reached out to my contact who confirmed that the magnet will not mess with anything internally on the controller and it can be used for mounting.

Even though the magnet won't mess with the internal components you will need to be careful using this mounting technique because the controller needs to remain mounted in the same position the entire time you are traveling. If it gets bumped around or twisted then that will mess with the sensors.So while you can use a magnet, it can still mess things up if you aren't very careful in how you do so.
