Question:

I have a Thule Hullavator kayak lift system and would like to purchase the parts that mount permanently to the Thule load bar on my roof rack system. That way I can install just the securing hardware permanently on the second car rack system and thereby install the Hullavator lift cradles on either vehicle without having to remove the mounting hardware when switching vehicles. I would just un-pin the lift cradles and install on the second vehicle in a matter of seconds. Does that make sense? Thanks!

I believe I know what you are wanting to do and for this you would just need two of the Replacement Bar Mount Assembly # 7521741001. This is the piece that gets installed onto the roof rack crossbar to which the lift arm and cradle assemblies for the Thule Hullavator # TH898 attach.

To install the new bar mounts to square crossbars bars you will need 4 each of the Carriage Bolt # 915-0622-54, Washer # 951061254, and Round Nut # 853-5439. If you are using integrated T-channels on aero-style crossbars you would just need 4 of the Carriage Bolt # 915-0622-54.

This will give you an extra set of bar mount assemblies so you can keep the mounting hardware attached to the crossbars on both your vehicles, giving you the ability to easily transfer just the lift arms and cradles between the two.
