How Many Years Do Trailer Tires Last

Updated 06/04/2019 | Published 06/03/2019

Question:

Does the federal ten year old car tire regulation apply to boat trailer tires?

As a general rule of thumb, trailer tires should be replaced every 6 to 8 years regardless of wear. Even though an older tire might appear to have plenty of tread left on it, dry rot and cracking can cause tire failure. A trailer tire that is 10 years old is way too old to be used.

I attached a link to a help article that has more trailer tire info as well.
