Does Curt Hitch # 13217 Fit 2002 Volkswagen Eurovan without Modifications to fit Spare

Question:
i have a 2002 eurovan and see that the fit appears to be correct but the spare tire seems to be 2 inches in the way..my friend had the same problem and had to make a bracket to extend to clear the spare tire...is this going to be the case with this as well?

Expert Reply:
The Curt hitch part # 13217 that you referenced does fit your 2002 Volkswagen Eurovan and while it is pretty close to the rear spare under the vehicle there are no install notes that mention needing to make any modifications to allow the spare to fit without issue. As long as your spare isn't larger than the factory size you'd be fine.
