Question:
Three years ago, I purchased part C56242 from etrailer.com and installed it on a 2015 Chrysler 200 to facilitate connecting the trailer lights when towing. Recently, Ive been experiencing a draw that has been killing my battery during non-use of my car. I only drive my car once every few weeks and want to know if the power to the adapter is required when I am not pulling a trailer. Will my cars tail and stop lights work correctly if I remove the fuse from the in-line cable? If so, Ill reinstall only when I tow a trailer. Thank you for your advice.

The problem you are experiencing is most likely the battery of your vehicle. If a car is going to be parked for a few weeks it's going to need a battery maintenance charger used on it like the CTEK # CTEK56353. If a car battery sits for as long as yours is setting the battery will discharge from not getting charged by the alternator.
This charger comes with a set of ring terminals you can install on the battery to make connecting to the charger quick and easy as well.
Removing the fuse from your trailer wiring would not affect your vehicle taillights at all either.
