According to the installation instructions for the CURT Trailer Hitch # C11307, there is no trimming required on a 2005 Cadillac CTS. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you.
If you are planning on doing some towing, this hitch comes with the correct ball mount, hitch pin and clip. For a ball you can use # 19256 (1-7/8 inch diameter) or # 19258 (2 inch diameter). For trailer wiring use Curt Vehicle Wiring Harness, # C59236. I have included a link to the installation details for the wiring harness as well.
