Question:
My factory 4 pin is in bad shape and needs replacing. 1 Is there a plug and play replacement and 2 Could I add a 7 pin receptical also? A combo 7 pin/ 4 pin would be ideal.

Yes! The Hopkins Plug-N-Tow # 40185 is a plug and play solution for replacing the factory 4-Way on your 2006 Ford F-150.
To add a 7-Way/4-Way connector you would then need the Hopkins # 37185. This connects directly to the 4-Way and then has additional wires that you can connect to wiring run to the rear of your pickup for it to be fully functional. You can mount the Hopkins connector with part # C57202 to avoid drilling into your trailer hitch.
If you want to permanently install this part and only the connector on your current 4-Way is messed up then you can just cut the 4-Way connectors off of this and your current 4-Way and just splicethe wiring together using butt connectors like part # DW05744-5.
Attached is a video and helpful article that shows how to run additional wiring # 12-2-1 from the Hopkins to the OEM wiring at the rear of your pickup to complete the installation. You will want to jump to about the 5 minute mark in the video. I also linked a few photos from the article to show you where the OEM wiring will be on your F-150.
