We have actually reached out to Pop & Lock before regarding the question of wiring the Tailgate Lock # PAL8600 to the trunk bed wiring on your Honda Ridgeline. They have told us that they do not recommend installing the lock in this manner because they have not sufficiently tested its operation when it's wired this way. There is a good possibility that the factory wiring at the trunk runs on a different relay and may not provide the needed voltage for proper operation of the Pop & Lock unit.
Because of this I do recommend following the manufacturer's instructions by routing the wiring up to the front of the truck near the B-Pillar separating the front and back door. I have attached the complete manual to assist.
