Will Roadmaster Base Plate 3154-3 Fit a 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500

Question:

I purchased the roadmaster base plate 3154-3 for my Chevy Silverado 1500 4x4. For some reason I put 2008 when I was searching for the part. The problem I have , my truck is in fact a 2006. Do I need a different base plate or will this work with a slight modification?

Unfortunately the Roadmaster MX Base Plate Kit # 3154-3 is not compatible with a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado. I am not sure what, if any, modification can be done to make it fit but I advise against doing so as Roadmaster wouldn't have had a chance to test it for safety.

The correct MX base plate kit for your 2006 Silverado 1500 will be one of the following (depending on your sub-model):

1500 LD - Z71 - # 199-6 (Front suspension must use torsion bar)
1500 LD - excluding Z71 - # 199-11 (Front suspension must use coil springs and won't fit SS model)
1500 HD - # 3115-3

For a complete flat towing setup you will need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, vehicle tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter. If you do not have all of these components just let me know and I can make some additional recommendations for you.
