I want to use this rack on my 2013 Kia Soul to carry a large kayak. How far apart can the racks be positioned on this car?

The Rhino Rack roof rack you mentioned part numbers # RRVA126B-2, # RRRLKVA, and # DK237 is a confirmed fit for your 2013 Kia Soul. Since it attaches to the factory roof rack fixed points on your roof and those are not adjustable there's only one width this rack can install at and that's a spread of 27-1/2 inches.
The weight capacity of this rack is also 110 lbs. You'd also need to check the roof capacity of your vehicle and be sure not to exceed the lower of the two figures.
