Question:

I recently got a truck with an acticvator 2 previously installed. When I plug my trailer in I can get up to 6 with the adjustment before it begins to flutter and go into a jumbled state. The manual slider will not work at all if trailer is plugged in or not...wont even trigger a dot. Any ideas? Faulty unit?

It does sound like your brake controller is at fault. What you described is accurate for a Draw Tite Activator 2 brake controller that is having an internal problem.

For a brake controller replacement I would recommend the Prodigy P3 Brake Controller part # 90195. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes. This will be the last brake controller you buy. It can easily be transferred to future vehicles as well.
