Question:
I was given a Draw-Tite brake controller 5504 for my 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport. I have only the main box, no wiring or instructions. The car has a hitch but does not have any trailer wiring. Can you help me with any other required items and some info on how to install all of it?

We can help you with installation of your Draw-Tite Activator Trailer Brake Controller # 5504 in your 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport.
Since your car currently has no trailer wiring you'll need a couple of items to complete the install. You will need a basic 4-pole wiring harness # 118571 along with Draw-Tite wiring pigtail # 20127. The only other part you need is our install kit # ETBC7 which includes all other components. You will not need anything beyond these three items.
The 4-pole kit # 118571 will install by plugging in at your two taillights and by connection of one single wire between the module and the car's battery. This single wire provides operating power for the module and for the trailer's lights. This 4-pole kit will isolate and protect your car's wiring from any potential short-circuits on the trailer.
Wiring pigtail # 20127 will plug in to the black connector on the Activator and provide pigtails for connection to the car's wiring under the dash.
The # ETBC7 install kit has all the other needed wiring and connector parts as well as the 7-way socket that will install on the back of the car. The kit allows for both brake controller installation and completion of the trailer wiring setup. An install video showing a Santa Fe is linked for you along with a help article that covers installation of the kit.
The controller's four wires connect as follows: BLACK connects to battery + through the included circuit breaker; WHITE is ground; BLUE is output to the 7-way and RED connects to the cold side of the brake light switch, which is the wire that carries power ONLY when you press the pedal.
