Roof Rack that Doesnt Use Clamps for a 2008 Ford Edge with Naked Roof
Published 09/15/2018 >
Question:
We have a 2008 Ford Edge with no racks at all. Is there a system we can use or install that doesn’t use the clips over the door that may scratch our paint? We’re looking for a permanent mount and the door clips are not ideal.

Since your 2008 Ford Edge has a naked roof there isn't anything to attach a traditional roof rack to without the clamps; however, the SeaSucker Monkey Bars # 298-SX6000B will work for you. I wouldn't call it a permanent mount but there's no reason you couldn't leave it on the car. Or you can just take them off since they install and uninstall so easily.
SeaSuckers mount using vacuum cups. So they can essentially be mounted almost anywhere with any crossbar spread. I've linked a couple of videos of them. Specifically take a look at the one with the VW van to see how strong the vacuum cups are.
