The Replacement Spring for Reese and Draw-Tite Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitches # 30776 does not have an installation video for me to show you the actual installation, so I've attached a diagram as well as some written instructions to assist.
The springs are located in the head assembly. One goes from one side of the hitch jaws to the other side. The long side of the spring (hook furthest from the coils) attaches to a pivot point on the flat rod closest to the jaws. The spring then goes across to the other side of the jaws and attaches to a point just beyond the jaws (close to where the other springs attaches). The other spring has one end attached to the handle from the back of the hitch to the front of the hitch away from the jaws.
The best way to install the spring is to use a needle nose pliers or vice grip to hold the end of the spring you will be stretching and having the opposite end of the spring attached to its location. Obviously there is tension from the spring, so be careful when stretching to have a firm grip on the spring.
