Are the installation brackets made of stainless steel?

The brackets that are included with the Westin R5 Nerf Bars part # 28-51050 which are a fit for your 2017 Ram 1500 (Crew Cab) are made of steel and powder coated for maximum rust protection. They are not made of stainless steel because stainless steel is significantly less stronger than standard heat treated steel. The stainless steel is suitable for the bars themselves but not for the brackets which bear all of the weight.
