Is Trimming of Bumper Required for CURT Trailer Hitch # C13102 on 2011 Mercedes-Benz GL 450
Updated 09/20/2011 | Published 09/18/2011 >
Question:
My 2007 Mercedes GL 450 has the standard plastic fascia over the rear bumper rather than the optional decorative brushed aluminum fascia. Will the plastic fascia need to be trimmed in order to install the Curt 13102 hitch? The directions suppied with the hitch include pictures of the hitch being installed on a vehicle that has the aluminum fascia and does not indictae that trimming will be required. However, Im not sure the aluminum fascia is the same size as the plastic fascia. Thank you,

I contacted our representative at CURT about installing the CURT Trailer Hitch # C13102, on your 2011 Mercedes-Benz GL450. He informed me that there should be no trimming required to install the hitch even with plastic fascia.
I have attached a picture of the hitch installed on a model with the decorative aluminum fascia. You will want to compare the fascia to see if it is the same size and shape.
However, if the exhaust heat shields are coming in contact with the hitch, the heat shields will need to be trimmed.
I have linked a picture, instructions for the CURT Trailer Hitch # C13102, and and FAQ on trailer hitch installation tips.
