2011 kia sorento 4cycl base model can I wire up this set without using the extra power boost wire? or is it required for the module to work?

The power wire for trailer wiring harness # HM11143914 for your 2011 Kia Sorento 4 cylinder base model is what actually powers the trailer lights. If it is not connected to the positive battery terminal the wiring harness will not work and you won't have any trailer lights.
Running the power wire isn't difficult; it just takes a little time. I have included a link to a help article I wrote with tips on routing the power wire.
