Difficult to tell from the pictures however, is the #12172 hitch more visible after installation than the #13337?

Expert Reply:
Both Curt hitches that fit your 2018 Lexus NX 300, the 1-1/4-inch Class II # C12172 and the 2-inch Class III # C13337, use common mounting points on the vehicle's frame.
So as far as the installed appearance goes, there will not be very much difference between the two. Both hitches' cross tubes are visible. To my eye neither offers a compelling cosmetic advantage over the other so I still recommend the 2-inch model # C13337 shown in the linked photo and installation video.
These differ in weight ratings and in the number of available accessory items that will fit. When we have a vehicle that can take both hitch classes we almost always recommend the 2-inch Class III option, especially when there is no distinct cosmetic advantage to the other size.
