To install an aftermarket brake controller like the Prodigy P3 # 90195, you will also want to get the wiring harness # 3016 for your 2016 Chevy 2500.
To diasable your factory controller, you will have to make a couple of cuts and connections. I've attached and article to assist.
First you will cut the blue wire on the plug-in wiring adapter and connect it to enough 12-gauge blue wire to reach the rear of the truck using # 12-1-1 sold by the foot. Now at the 7-way trailer connector at the back of the truck, you will cut it's blue wire approximately 4 to 6 inches from the connector and connect it to the blue wire that was run from the brake control wiring harness. I recommend using Deka Heat Shrink Butt Connectors, # DW05745-10 when making all electrical connections. Now you are ready to plug the wiring adapter into the brake control port up under the dash and into the back of your new controller.

Hello Jason,When you describe cutting the blue wire on the 3016 wiring harness that connects under the dash, you now have 2 blue wires in the harness after the cut. Do I connect the 12 ga wire that will run to the rear of the truck to the blue wire running to the molded connector that plugs in under the dash OR the blue wire that runs to the P3. Im assuming you want to ignore what is coming from the truck and begin using the blue wire coming from the P3 as your new proportional brake signal that will feed your trailer brakes. I also assume the blue wire coming from the truck can then be capped off. Correct? Thanks,
