The Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Lock - Power - Black # PAL8600 most likely can be wired to your power trunk lock wires instead of running wires to your cab. The manufacturer hasn't tested that fit, but logically it will work. The installation instructions obviously do not show that wiring since the manufacturer hasn't tested it, so I recommend connecting the wires loosely to test the function before splicing wires to confirm the compatibility.

I can't confirm the Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Lock # PAL8600 can be wired to your trunk lock. I reached out to my tech contact at Pop & Lock and they do not recommend wiring it to the trunk. They haven't had anyone try it recently, but the reason behind not wiring to the trunk is due to the manufacturer not being able to confirm if the trunk locks on its own once shut or remains unlocked. This could vary from vehicle to vehicle based on what they have their lock system set to do and the distance for their proximity sensors. There is also the possibility that the trunk lock would not necessarily run on the same relay or may not provide a reasonable amount of voltage for the P&L to operate. So basically they haven't tested it to know it's current functioning and if it would work. She did however give an easier alternative wiring with photos. By the drivers side seat in the B pillar (by the seatbelt) there is an easy point to connect the wiring. You will use the same small red and small yellow wires as in the installation instructions, but they are more accessible in this location for an easy connection. I've attached photos to assist.
