Troubleshooting No 12V Power at 7-Way After Installing Tekonsha Wiring Harness on Ford Transit
Updated 05/14/2018 | Published 05/11/2018 >
Question:
I finished installing the Tekonsha Replacement Harness for 7-way and brake controller #22114 on my 2017 Ford Transit. I tested with Pollak 7-Way to RV Socket LED Circuit Tester #PK12741 at the 7-way socket. Tail lights, turn signals, brake lights all test OK yay!, but on idle, I am not seeing power at the +12V pin. I verified no voltage at idle on all pins with a multimeter. Resistance to ground is zero at the ground pin and infinite on the rest. I do not have a brake controller unit yet, but I would not expect to see power to the +12V pin depend on having one plugged in at the dash connector.

Expert Reply:
When testing the 7-Way connector from the Tekonsha OEM Vehicle Wiring Harness # 22114 that you recently installed, the 12V pin (1:00 o'clock position) should have constant power with the vehicle running. If you are not getting any voltage, then I simply recommend making sure that all the connections at the battery on your Ford Transit are securely attached.
The body harness from the T-One Kit should be run to the vehicle's battery under the hood. The black wire will connect to the positive post, using a 30 amp fuse holder. The red wire will also go to the positive post using a 15 amp fuse holder.
If you verify that everything is connected correctly and are still having the issue, please let me know and I will be happy to look into this further.
