Can the Pop & Lock Tailgate Lock # PAL8600 be Connected to Existing Wiring on 2018 Honda Ridgeline

Question:
Can you use the wires from the trunk lock for power and the locking of the tail gate This would save a lot time from running the wires all the way to the engine compartment then into the cab?

I believe the existing wiring that you are referring to is for the backup camera on your 2018 Honda Ridgeline (see attached photo).
If you connected the Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Lock # PAL8600 to this wiring it could not only overload circuits, it would also prevent you from being able to lock your tailgate via the door locks inside your Ridgeline. For the Pop & Lock Tailgate Lock to operate properly it is best to install it according to the instructions.
The Pop & Lock Tailgate Lock is designed for Ridgelines without power locking tailgates. If you already have a power locking tailgate then this will not add additional security to your tailgate.
Attached are the installation details and a sample installation video for you.
