Question:
I have a 2000 Itasca Horizon, Freightliner XC Chassis, diesel pusher, air brakes. It has a 6 pin light connector at the back, Freightliner tells me there is no built-in harness for trailer brakes. How do I wire in a trailer brake controller? Will I be able to use your 6-7 pin converter for the 7 pin trailer light/brake connector? I imagine I would have to splice in the brake signal to the 7 pin converter?

You are going to have to hardwire in a brake controller to your 2000 Itasca Horizon, Freightliner XC Chassis since it does not come with any brake controller pre-wiring. I attached a help article that details how the controller will install but basically you are going to need to run a 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 from the black wire of the controller to the positive post of your vehicle battery through a breaker like # 9510, you'll need to a wire from the white wire of the controller to the negative side of the battery, you'll need to run a wire from the red wire of the controller to a circuit that only sees 12 volts when the brakes are applied and then a 10 gauge wire back to the 5:00 pin of your 7-way and you'd be set.
For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P3 Brake Controller part # 90195. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes. This will be the last brake controller you buy. It can easily be transferred to future vehicles as well.
