Question:
Hello, I have a 2009 Hyundai Sonata. Im thinking that I want to end up with the Curt C11325 hitch for it, and the BikeWing bike rack. However, Im concerned about the clearance of the mountain bike pedals to the bumper. I saw the measurements such that it should provide about 6.5inch to the nearest point of the rack, based on the 5.5inch pin to bumper of the hitch, and the 12inch pin to closest point on the bike rack. But that doesnt tell me where the center of the wheel will be on the closest bike to give me an idea of where to measure pedal clearance. Is this a measurement you can calculate or provide?

For your 2009 Hyundai Sonata, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11325 is 5-1/2 inch recessed to the hitch pin hole from the outer bumper as you stated. This hitch does require the Curt Trailer Hitch Support Strap - Bike Rack Strap with Cambuckle # 18050 to preserve the warranty on the hitch.
Because clearance is a concern, I recommend the Draw-Tite # 24757 which does not require the strap and also is only 5 inches recessed to the center of the hitch pin hole to give you an additional 1/2 inch of clearance.
The Curt # C18085 rack does have the closest point on the rack 12 inches from the center of that hitch pin hole. You can see in the attached video of the 2016 Sonata that the bike rack's closest point is the pin that the closest bike is secured to and not the upright. The measurement in the video is 7-1/2 inches from the bumper. The pins are designed for tires up to 3.5 inches wide so you should have clearance for your pedals even with your mountain bike tires. This is a safer distance to calculate than from the center of your tire as I don't have your tire center to pedal end dimension.
With either combination, I recommend the SilentACT Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Accessories Lock # SR0901 and cable lock # e98891 to secure your bikes.
