To determine if TruXedo Stake Pocket Covers # TX1704210 will fit your 1998 Chevy pickup you will have to go by the dimensions of the covers. They are 2.54" x 1.90". We do have set # TX1704212 that is possibly a better fit but I can only guarantee they will fit back to a 1999 Chevy truck. They are 2.68" x 1.96".
