Good, Better, and Best Remote Mount Transmission Cooler for a 2000 Toyota 4Runner

Updated 02/19/2018 | Published 02/16/2018

Question:

Hi! I own a 2000 4Runner with a 3.4L V6 engine. It is driven in stop and go traffic and occasionally for offroad use. Im looking to purchase a transmission cooler. Because of the type of driving I am looking for one with an aux fan option. Would you be able to recommend a top rated, a budget, and one in between both options? Thank you for the help.

What you are referring to is a remote mounted transmission cooler which can be mounted anywhere on the vehicle space permits as the electric fan included with the cooler will ensure you receive maximum cooler power no matter the vehicle's state of motion.

The best remote mounted transmission cooler I have for you is the Derale Hyper-Cool Extreme Remote Cooler Assembly part # D13870 which measures 13" wide x 14-7/8" tall x 5-5/8" deep. The fan included with this kit has a 800 CFM rating.

A good remote mounted transmission cooler I have for you is the Derale 16-Pass Electra-Cool Remote Transmission Cooler Kit part # D13900 which measures 15-3/4" wide x 11-1/2 " tall x 5" deep. The fan included with this kit has a 650 CFM rating.

For a budget remote mounted transmission cooler, the Derale 6-Pass Econo-Cool Remote Cooler Assembly part # D13730 measures 12-3/4" wide x 7-5/8" tall x 3-1/2" deep. The fan included with this kit has a 400 CFM rating.

In order to install any of these coolers you will need an install kit for which I recommend the Derale Remote Mounting Kit for Transmission Coolers part # D13022. This kit includes everything you will need for installation.
