What are the Differences Between Curt A20 and Curt Q20 Fifth Wheel Hitches?

Question:

What is the difference between the Curt A and Curt Q 5th wheel hitch? I currently have a Curt Q 20 in my 09 Ram 2500. I am looking to buy a 2018 Ram 2500 and I do not need a slider hitch

There are a number of differences between Curt A and Q fifth wheel hitches such as the A20 # C16044 and Q20 # C16530-16021, both of which fit in the factory puck system of a 2018 Ram 2500.

There are a couple large differences, one of which is the warranty; the A20 has a limited lifetime warranty while the Q20's limited lifetime warranty only applies to the hitch legs while the hitch itself has a 10-year limited warranty. Additionally, the A20 is compatible with rotating pin boxes such as the Sidewinder while the Q20 is not. Though this particular aspect won't affect you since it sounds like you will be getting a long bed, the reason for this is that the Q20 features a spherical axial bearing that allows 360 degree movement of the hitch head, which is something the A20 does not have.

I have added links to review videos of both htiches for you to take a look at as well.

The Curt A20 # C16044 that I referenced in the previous answer is a fixed hitch and not a sliding hitch.

There is a sliding A model of Curt fifth wheel for a 2018 Ram 2500, which would be # C16521; because it is a slider it would require Adapter Rails # C16022 to fit the puck system of a 2018 Ram 2500.
