If you install an aftermarket trailer brake controller like the Prodigy P3 # 90195 using harness # 22292 in a Ford truck that had a factory-installed brake controller it will set a fault code on the instrument cluster. This does no harm but it can be annoying to see this message on the dash.
The only way to remove this code is to have the TBC turned off by your local Ford dealer. Using the integrated diagnostic system, the IDS, the Ford Technician should access the Programmable Parameters and then select the Personality/Dynamics. Select the TBC and turn it off. The fault code will now be removed.
This process can also be used to turn the TBC back on, in the event that the aftermarket brake control is removed
