Question:

We are looking to add a flat tow vehicle to our 2016 Minnie Winnie 31K Motor Home. Right now, considering the 2017 or 2018 Ford Fiesta SE Manual Transmission or the 2017 or 2018 Hyundai Elantra SE Manual Transmission. We are interested in knowing what equipment you offer to set all of this up. Thank you for you time and information.

There are several items needed to flat-tow either a 2017-18 Ford Fiesta or a 2017-18 Hyundia Elantra that have manual transmissions with your 2016 Winnebago Minnie Winnie. You will need base plates to connect the car to a tow bar, a tow bar to connect the car to your RV, safety cables in case you have a break-away situation, wiring to connect the lights to the RV lights, a braking system for braking, and maybe a high-low hitch adapter for level towing.

For the Ford Fiesta, 2017 or 2018 (Parts same for both years):
Base Plates--Roadmaster EZ5 with removable arms, Item # RM-524438-5.
Tow Bar--Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain-6,000 lbs, Item # RM-522.
Safety Cables--Roadmaster safety cables, Item # RM-643.
Wiring for Lights--One-time setup that splice into your vehicle wiring, Item # RM-15267.
Brake Light Relay--Works with brake and lights wiring so that vehicle lights activate when RV lights activate, Item # RM-88400.
Supplemental Braking System--Connect RV brake and lighting functions with vehicle, Item # SM99251.

For the Hyundai Elantra (2.0L Engine), 2017 or 2018 (Parts same for both years):
Base Plates--Roadmaster EZ4 with removable arms, Item # RM-521636-4.
Supplemental Braking System--Connect RV brake and lighting functions with vehicle, Item # RM-8700.

If you have a different sized engine for the Elantra then there will be different base plates and possibly other parts. if not the 2.0L engine, let me know and I will make correct recommendations.

Both the Ford Fiesta and Hyundia Elantra would need extra parts if you want to keep the lighting systems as separate wires instead of combined wires. To have separate wires and for other installation matters, you might need a vehicle to vehicle wiring converter like Item # 118158 and two to four extra diodes like Item # RM-792. These parts would work with all vehicles listed.

For all vehicles listed, you may need a high-low hitch adapter to keep your vehicle fairly level while being flat towed. A "safe zone" of 3 inches above or 3 inches below level must be maintained while towing a vehicle. High-low adapters provide necessary rise or drop to get into the "safe zone". I have attached a link to our available selections.

As you prepare to flat-tow whatever vehicle you choose, make sure to review that particular vehicle's owner's manual for suggestions and recommendations for flat-towing.

I have attached additional information and videos to help with your decision.
