Question:
I have a flatbed truck and wondering if I bought a strobe kit can I hook up the factory flatbed lights to it to make them strobe or do I have to buy special oval lights to make them strobe?

On the Custer 4-LED Strobe Light or Running Light # STRL4A the black wire powers the steady-on running light and if power is applied to the red wire the strobe effect is activated. The white wire is the ground.
If you ran the running light circuit of your truck's bed to this light you could have them activate as a solid running light or a strobe depending on which circuit you tapped into.
A signal on the red wire will override the steady-on running light signal on the black wire and cause the unit to strobe, according to my contact at Custer. I actually went to our warehouse and tested the light and it operates as stated. LEDs are always on when the black wire gets power; signal on the red wire overrides this and causes all 4 LEDs to strobe.
The same wiring configuration applies to lights # STRL4W (white LEDs) and # STRL4R (red) which also offer the strobe function.
