I spoke with my contact at Valterra regarding the Horst Miracle Probe Sensors # T21301VP referenced in your question. She stated that the probes do not require any kind of maintenance once installed and you will not need to clean them. Because the probes are surrounded by Teflon, they are not prone to liquid residue or debris buildup.
She was not able to confirm an exact lifespan for the probes, however she did state that they are designed to last and there is no reason that they would not remain functional for as long as you need them. They do also include a 1 year warranty.

I installed these probes in both black and gray tanks a few years ago. The gray ones are working fine. The black ones, not so much. Even after a thorough flush, they still show full levels in the tank. I talked to the manufacturer and they recommended not removing them to clean them as they might not be watertight after reinstallation. Best to jus install new ones.
