Question:

I just read on your site: The entire lock mechanism in the SportRack Vista XL Cargo Box # SR7018 is not replaceable, but the internal lock cylinder itself can be replaced. A replacement lock and key set can be ordered using the number that appears on the lock face. inch The picture shows a lock just like mine with a number 2854. My number says 2982. The site also says: A replacement lock and key set can be ordered using the number that appears on the lock face. Once you know your lock number you can use the search feature on our site to locate the appropriate Thule replacement based on that lock code. For example, if your lock code is N062 you can use part # THLOCKN062.inch Well when I try to look up my lock number 2982 I cannot find a replacement lock set. I have had so much trouble getting my lock to open/close, so I just ordered the part number THLOCKN062, with lock set and key set. Will this work?

SportRack and parent company Thule products often use the same replacement keys. If you need only a key for the lock number 2982 then you can use part # THKEYN2982.

The part # THLOCKN062 you ordered is just a lock cylinder without a matching key. The mating key is part # THKEYN062.

In order to remove/replace a Thule lock core the core must be unlocked and it is necessary to have a Universal Change Key # 853-1251 to remove the unlocked core from the housing and also to install a new lock core such as # THLOCKN062.
