Replacement Rubber Pads for a 40 Inch Yakima Fairing
Updated 10/17/2017 | Published 10/15/2017 >
Question:
Everything was great, I mounted a 40” Yakima windshield fairing on my 2017 x5 with factory crossbars and everything got quieter. It was never bad prior, but some noise which was gone. Then, I opened the sunroof and all 4 rubber pads came off. The fairing was resting on the sunroof, because the oem crossbar instructions specified the location of them. Dork move on my part. Will this replace the rubber pads? I’m also considering the location of crossbars, but hopefully I can find a combo that will work providing less resistance against a moving sunroof.

The replacement rubber pads, part # Y8870045 will replace your now missing pads. (Don't worry, it happens to all of us!)
You should definitely check the fairing for damage before reinstalling it, as there could be some damage caused by the sudden disappearance of the pads and the travel immediately following.
