Both of the hitches you mentioned are good quality hitches, are easy to install and require no drilling or welding for installation. They have very similar towing cacities: 4000 lb for the Draw-Tite and 3500 lb for the Curt.
I recommend the Draw-Tite Class III Hitch, # 75560 for you 2006 Subaru Outback Wagon. This hitch provides you with a 2" receiver, which is why I believe it is the most popular hitch for your Outback Wagon. More trailers and hitch accessories (like bike racks and cargo carriers) are compatible with Class III 2" hitches. So, this makes the hitch more versatile and can improve the resale value of your vehicle.
The Curt Class II Hitch, # C12284 has a 1 1/4" receiver opening and is perfect for light-duty towing of small trailers and accessories. I'm proud to say that this hitch is Made in the USA. One drawback to this hitch is that Curt requires you to use a stabilizing strap, # 18050, to support all non-trailer loads like bike racks and cargo carriers.
If you plan to tow with your new hitch, I recommend the Tekonsha Wiring Harness, # 118461, and the 2" Ball Mount Kit, # 989900. If you go with the Curt, I recommend Ball Mount # 36053. I've attached videos of both of these hitches being installed so that you can see how the look close up.
