I went out to the warehouse to take a look at the Redline Safety Chain S-Hook # 4380 referenced in your question. I measured a total length on the hook of right at 3-1/2 inches. It has a 11/32 inch diameter and is for use with 3/16 inch chains.
This hook is rated for 3,000 pounds breaking strength and has a working load limit of 1,037 pounds.
