Question:
Trying to decide on a lightweight but sturdy tray/platform rack to connect to a 1.25inch hitch for 2 bikes. Heard Kuat was good, but also looking at Thule Double Track Pro. Total weight is a concern because this is just a Class 1 hitch, 1.25

You're in the right direction for the Class I hitch, as the Thule DoubleTrack Pro XT, part # TH92BJ is a great choice for a lot of different bikes.
The DoubleTrack is fairly easy to load and the unique way that the frame clamps are mounted on the bike rack allows for you to mount in a variety of ways to the frame. I also appreciate that the DoubleTrack has an integrated lock system and its anti-rattle and sway is outright impressive.
An extremely lightweight option if you're OK with using a hanging rack is the Kuat Beta, part # B202-114. This hanging rack weighs only 12.6 pounds, but has no integrated locks, but leaves the most available weight for your bikes. If you purchase this rack, I strongly recommend the Lock for 1-1/4 inch hitches, part # e98879 to add security and a 10-Foot Cable Lock, part # e98891 to improve the security of the rack. You may also want a frame adapter bar, part # 64005 to help women's, step-through or children's bikes ride level to the ground.
I've included a video of both racks so you can compare them for yourself and get an idea of their features and how they work in action.
If you have a 530i or 540i , with or without the XDrive package, I recommend the Curt Class I, part # C11478 instead. You'll need a support strap, part # 18050 if you use this hitch to avoid negating Curt's warranty. I've included a video about the effects of this strap, and I tend to recommend using them anyway as a way of improving your rack's on-road performance.
Both of these hitches are no-drill installations, but may require trimming of an underbody trim panel with tin snips like part # PT79ZR to install. I've included our help article about hitch installation so you can make the installation go as smoothly as possible.
