Differences Between the Firestone Ride-Rite Springs Part # F2245 and Part # F2445 Toyota Tundra

Published 09/20/2017

Question:

Thank you for a clear and thorough answer. Being an automotive mechanic and a welder, I have fabricated the top brackets to match the 2017 frame to the 2006 style air bags. I would like to purchase the lower Ride-Rite brackets from a 2017 kit to reduce fabrication time. Is it possible to purchase just the lower brackets for a 2017 from E-trailer? I understand the importance of proper air bag alignment involved with this project.

I do have the mounting brackets you are asking for but unfortunately, the airbags on the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs part # F2245 for your 2006 Toyota Tundra are not the same as the ones designed for the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs part # F2445 for the 2017 Toyota Tundra. Since the airbags are different, the old airbags will not line up with the predrilled mounting holes on the new brackets. Therefore, the only thing you would be able to reuse on the new vehicle is the airlines and fittings.

I recommend selling your old kit to recoup some of the money and purchasing a new one specifically designed for the 2017 truck as this would be the most cost effective option. In order to operate the airbags from inside the vehicle, I recommend using the Firestone Air Command I part # F2158. The kit comes with a standard duty air compressor, analog gauge, and single path switch.

I have attached a photo to show you the difference between airbags in addition to an installation video of the new airbag kit installed on a 2013 Toyota Tundra for you as well.
