Question:

Which wiring do I need for a 2010 Altima sedan? I have a small 4 X 8 trailer. I wanted to AVOID running the wire to the battery. Is that possible? I have always just attached the wires to the factory wires with the clamps. I read about the Subaru T-connectors. Can I use the same style to avoid running all the way to battery. Thanks!

Both wiring harnesses for the 2010 Nissan Altima Sedan require a power wire ran to the battery and an in line fuse installed. It is absolutely necessary and the trailer wiring will not work without it. More and more cars are being made with thin wiring that is not capable of handling the added power draw of trailer lights. The powered converters virtually eliminate the power draw from the vehicle wiring protecting it and other electrical components from damage.

Both wiring harnesses install the same way on your vehicle. I recommend the more economical choice, the Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 118470. The connection to the battery is not very difficult, it just takes a little extra time. The hardest part is just routing the wire under the vehicle so that it does not get pinched or burned.

I have included a link to the installation details and to a video showing a typical installation that will help you when wiring your car. Make sure to follow all of the steps carefully. The first step should almost always be to disconnect the negative battery terminal.
