Question:

Looking for a back up camera for a 2017 GMC Sierra. Actually want a rear view camera for road use so I need something with not too wide of a camera viewing angle. What would you recommend for this application? Wireless would be nice but I could hardwire a unit.

I have a couple of great options for your 2017 GMC Sierra 3500. One of my favorite wireless backup camera systems is the Swift Hitch line. I recommend the version with the 8 hour battery life # SH02DIGITAL to ensure plenty of worry-free operation once the camera is turned on. I have linked a video review of this camera system for you.

For a wired system I had the Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera and Hitch Aligner System Item # HM50002 on one of my vehicles. This guy plugs in line with a 7-Way trailer connector so the only wiring that needs to be done is from the camera to the monitor. And you will still have full use of the 7-Way trailer connector. But to make sure that it comes on when you want it to you would need to wire it to come on when the truck running lights are on which will require a little wire swapping on the unit where it plugs into the truck's 7-Way.
