Differences in Class III Receiver Hitches Available for 2008 Acura MDX

Updated 04/20/2011 | Published 04/19/2011

Question:

Hello, I am interested in a 2 hitch receiver for a 2008 Acura RDX. Could you tell me what is the difference between the Curt class III vs. the HiddenHitch class III? I do see that the Curt one is about $30 cheaper. Also, I will also need the Hitch Wiring kit. But I am not sure how easy or difficult it is to install. Do you mind sending me the installation instruction before I buy? Thanks

Other than the fact that they are provided by different manufacturers, there is little difference between the Class III hitches manufactured by Curt and Hidden Hitch. Visually speaking, they are almost identical with the exception of the tang welded onto the Hidden Hitch receiver for attaching a trailer connector mounting bracket. Both receiver hitches have the same weight carrying capabilities, and install in the same manner.

Either hitch would work very well for you. By choosing the less expensive Curt model, you will have sacrificed nothing.

Please note, both hitches install by using existing weld nuts that are welded to the interior of the frame. As your vehicle is a few years old, you will want to thoroughly clean them of any road grime or corrosion before installing the bolts that attach the hitch to the vehicle. This can be easily accomplished by spraying WD-40 in each weld nut, and cleaning each with a wire brush. Our installers routinely use a battery terminal cleaner, like part # DW00254.

Installing the wiring is very simple, and I have provided a link to the install instructions, a video showing the install, as well as an install video and instructions for the hitch.
