When Using the Battery Isolation Solenoid, item # PK5231201, for isolating a vehicle 12 volt battery from the power going to a 12 volt trailer battery through the vehicle trailer connector, we use 10 gauge wire, item # 10-1-1 or # 10-2-1, depending on the wiring situation. If the solenoid were attached directly between two batteries under the hood that are hooked to the charging system, I would use battery cables, the same size as the vehicle battery uses, on the battery posts, and a 10 gauge wire from the ignition source of the vehicle. I have posted a photo detailing how the solenoid is typically wired.
I am not exactly sure what you are trying to do with the batteries on your golf cart, but the Battery Isolation Solenoid, item # PK5231201, is designed for 12 volt systems only. The voltage from the 6 volt batteries would not be high enough for use of the solenoid and could cause overheating issues.
