Question:
I installed this and it worked for a while. But now it makes the noise like it is locking but it does not lock. I am wondering what I should look for to fix this. Thanks

It sounds to me like the the metal rod may have come unattached. There are two metal rods that connect to the bronze locking plate installed on the inside of the taillight to the back of the latch handle. One is responsible for locking the tailgate whereas the other is responsible for unlocking the tailgate.
The end of the metal rod that attaches to the base plate is secured by a plastic prong. One is black and the other is red. You will want to make sure the rod is secured into the connector and the connector is secured to the plate. This is further explained at the :35 second mark in the attached video.
If this is not the problem, please let me know and I can provide further assistance.
